Faculty Member, Health and Social Sciences
Professor of Nursing Policy
About
I studied English Literature at Cambridge university in the 1970s and later trained to be a nurse, also in Cambridge. I spend two years working for the South Australian Health Commission in a community health research unit in Adelaide between 1989 and 1990, when my two sons were born.
Since returning to the UK, I've worked at the Royal College of Nursing and at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine before moving to Middlesex University.
I'm European Editor of Nursing Inquiry and Editor for health: an interdisciplinary journal for the social study of health, illness and medicine.
